NWIC Athletics at a glance
The goal of the Athletic Department is to give student athletes the opportunity to compete in intercollegiate athletics. Affiliated sports are offered based on student interest, facility availability, community support and fiscal resources, as well as educational, physical, social and emotional value. Students have the opportunity to participate in women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and co-ed softball. Other sports are available depending upon student interest, including cross country, canoeing and tennis.
NWIC men’s and women’s basketball programs currently compete against junior colleges and universities in Washington, Oregon and Canada.
Every year NWIC, along with other tribal colleges throughout the United States, participate in an annual basketball competition hosted by AIHEC (American Indian Higher Educations Consortium).
NWIC also offers intramural programs for students in fall, winter and spring sports. This programming is collaborated with 2 other community colleges in the Bellingham area.
