Home

Northwest Indian College Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to help Northwest Indian College offer our native students more educational opportunities to thrive in a changing world.

NWICF was established by the Lummi Indian Business Council in 1992 and is located on the original territories of the Nexw’ Xwlemi people of the Lummi Nation. The Foundation is a non-profit, public 501(c)(3) organization that advances the mission of the Northwest Indian College, which was established in 1983. Northwest Indian College Foundation is solely dedicated to bringing together people and resources to invest in students attending the Northwest Indian College to bridge the affordability gap for students and assist them in realizing their goals.

The value of “lengesot” which is the xwlemi chosen word meaning that we take care of ourselves, watch out for ourselves, and love and take care of one another. This is a good way to describe the Northwest Indian College Foundation.

“Our students have strong cultural ties and familial obligations that ground them to their tribal communities. The college makes attaining a higher education possible by bringing access directly to their homelands and the Foundation strives to decrease financial barriers, which are ever increasing.”
– Henry Cagey, past Lummi Chairman, NWICF 1st Vice President
